^I saw that, hence my comment
If they're still looking by June I'll fire one off but I don't hold out much hope a) that they'll still be looking and b) that I would get it. _______________ Never Open Me Up |

Dunno...just feels like I can't concentrate on anything but uni at the mo
Plus, I doubt I could do it. Dolving's recorded a lot of seriously fast paced furious shit and there's no way I have the speed or stamina to do a song like No Compromise Might try and record a couple of things at the studio if / when I have time. We'll see. _______________ Never Open Me Up |

In case anyone here was having a crack at it, they just posted this:
QUOTE Thanks for all the applications so far.
We will review everything submitted. We have now made mixes without vocals of the following select tracks for stage 2 of the application process: * The Flood (The Dead Eye, 2006) * Little Cage (Versus, 2008) * No Ghost (Unseen, 2011) You can download the whole archive here: http://www.the-haunted.com/site/archive/th...application.zip Be sure to read the detailed information in the file "important_info.pdf" (included in the package) carefully! Well, they're not planning on returming to thrash based on that song-selection. Not surprised though.

Yeah, they are done if they chose those songs.

Those three songs are good examples of both heavy and melodic vocal songs. Don't presume that just because they chose these ones that they're going to continue down the Unseen path.

Yeah, this is the truth. They may not have earned the benefit of the doubt, but at least give 'em a chance to do something without Dolving before passing complete judgement. This list very well could be simply to judge the person's range. It's one thing to act like the last record didn't happen, it's another to end up getting another vocalist like Marco and acting like the last 4 records didn't happen.

Both D-Money and Shawn are spot on.
It's an audition, it's no indication of what their set-list will be like. It's more than anything, a way to test the range and vocal ability. You guys have been fans long enough of this style of music, one would think this would be obvious. ![]() All smiles and sunshine, a perfect world on a perfect day Everything always works out... Little Cage seems like a great song to test a vocalist - if you can do both the harsh and clean(ish) vocals in that song, and mix it up effortlessly like Dolving does, you should be able to sing all the old material. And I think that's one of the better songs they've done recently, and it's a quite brutal thrash tune, so I'm not sure what people think is wrong with that one.

Song-selection in itself IS a statement of intent in my opinion. If no Unseen track was picked it would've been obvious who pushed that album.
I don't necessarily need another thrash album from them; I thought the Dead Eye was great and felt that the songs written by Jensen (who should be the big thrash-dude in the band) haven't been all that exciting over the last years. I'm more hoping for a return to form, or finding a sense of direction than anything else. |

I'm listening to all their albums right now, and I had not realized how much Unseen sucked ass when it was released. I never really paid to attention to it, but boy, what a stinker !
On the other, Versus is not as bad as I remembered. It's a nice combination of Revolver and The Dead Eye, and I can't believe Seize The Day was just a bonus track. Speaking of Revolver... It's still as amazing to my ears as the first time I ever listened to it. The rage on this album is contagious. Fucking Dolviiiiiiiiiiiing ! |

I'm glad he quit. He was starting to go on my nerves. I rather remember the good ol' albums than have his uber high IQ fuck up the next album.

it will be very interesting to see where they go to from here.
given that they've been doing the 'experimental' and moody thing for more than a few albums now, I'm actually not 100% convinced that was all Dolving's influence. Regardless of who the new vocalist turns out to be, I'm really not expecting anything along the lines of the s/t or THMMDI albums (or even rEVOLVEr for that matter...). I'd not be in the least surprised if the next album is more of a 'safe' blend of aggressive and mood along the lines of The Dead Eye than a 'return to form' along the lines of the s/t or THMMDI. I also expect it to be closer the to the 'medicore' end of the scale than the 'classic' end. Religion is no fun. Religion endangers the life and happiness of millions. It must stop. We appeal in particular to the youth of today. STOP THE MADNESS! There are better things in life. |

I think I've missed some records. There was one after rEVOLVEr that I just listened to briefly. Totally have no idea what came after that. Will have to do some homework. |
