Savard posted on his twitter yesterday:

E-Kane better look me up the next time he is in Boston. I owe him a drink. I don't mind being a liason for the underaged.

west
Sharks vs Avalanche. I think the sharks will take it in 5, the avs are a young team with a career back up in net, so im taking the sharks

Blackhawks vs Predators. Blackhawks in 6. central division rivals i hope its a hard hitting series, but i cant go against my hawks

Canucks vs Kings. this is tough for me, the canucks have good scoring potential with the sedin twins and kessler but luongo is not looking like luongo recently. the kings are another young team with not alot of playoff experience, ill take the canucks in 7

Coyotes vs red wings. coyotes in 6....fuck the red wing

East
Capitals vs Canadiens. Caps in 4. washington just has too much fire power for the candiens

Devils vs Flyers. Im going with the flyers in 6, they have the momentum coming in from having to clinch in the final game of the season. brodeur is getting up there but is still a great goaltender. parise is going to be good, im not sure on kovalchuk though

Sabres vs Bruins. Sabres in 5. The bruins can hardly put the puck in the net, if ryan miller gets hot the bruins are screwed

Penguins vs Senators. im taking the sens in 7. the penguins looked so sloppy tonight. but they will come back but i think it will be too late

theres my picks for the first round

The Bruins won the season series with Buffalo 4-2. Tuukka Rask led the NHL in GAA and Save %. I don't think they win the series, but I would think they'll do better than five games... especially considering they were 8-3-1 down the stretch after the "Matt Cooke" game...

rask is a great young goaltender but, i dont think he can carry them in the playoffs if they cant find their scoring touch. honestly i hope the bruins do win more.

East:

Washington in 6. Neither team has goaltending but Washington has too much fire power for the habs to handle. They might win a couple lucky ones but Washington to take this one.

Jersey in 5. I'd love to eat my words on this one, but I have a feeling the lack of goaltending (again) is going to be the downfall of the Flyers in the playoffs.

Boston in 7. If there is going to be an upset in the East I'd put money on this being the one. Buffalo by alrights should win this series, but I think Boston will eek it's way through this series.

Pittsburgh in 6. What's with the East and lack of solid playoff goaltending this year? Elliot has nabbed the starting job from the ugly, lispy fuck Leclaire, but his youth might be his downfall in this one. Pens in 6.

West:

San Jose in 6. San Jose is usually good for one round, right? Or at least part of it? Colorado's youth movement has done them quite well this year but I think it'll be their downfall in the playoffs. I could see this giving San Jose some momentum into the second round though which....they will likely blow and be eliminated in the second round in 5 games. Haha.

Chicago in 5. Dont really have to say much here...Hawks are a better team with more scoring and more depth. Nuff said.

Vancouver in 6. Not just because Im a Canucks fan but because the Kings are like the Blues last year. Coming into the playoffs a tired team. Quick has sucked ass of late and let in some real softies. Not to say Luongo has been a rock, but I think (again) this will come down to experience and the Canucks have it by a slight edge.

Phoenix and Detroit is going to be a tough one. I honestly don't know who to take. Phoenix finished the season with 50 wins....50! That's insane and if anyone says they saw the Coyotes in the playoffs let alone in the top 4 is a fucking liar.

Detroit has been hot going down the strech and into the playoffs. Howards been showing he's going to be their man for years to come. Going to be a tight one. I'll just say this one is going to 7 games, don't know who to pick as the winner.

The refs tonight in Buffalo are fucking awful so far. They called icing on a play that Blake Wheeler CLEARLY not only touched first, but hit it off the boards and touched it again. Then he gets boarded by Vanek with no call. Adam McQuaid gets called for a ticky tacky hook. Then there is this mini-brawl after they were calling a roughing on Chara where Raffi Torres tried to take Chara's head off, then Kaleta is going after Lucic, who was more than willing to go, only to have him back off but then try hitting him again so that when Lucic finally drags him down, Montador is trying to jump him all while Kaleta is trying to kick Lucic and Torres is still trying to fight everyone... and the Bruins still end up short handed, even though Kaleta gets a 10 minute misconduct.

The worst of it all, even though the Bruins caught the break, is Chara got a double minor on the play, and Thornton was serving the first penalty, and the off ice official let Chara out instead, so the Bruins played a good chunk of time until the next stoppage before they realized the screwed up and put Chara back in and let Thornton out. I've never seen anything like it.

This is definitely playoff hockey though. Rask was stuck in no mans land after Hunwick made a dumb decision in the Buffalo zone setting up a 3 on 2 rush that might as well have been 3 on 1 because Hunwick was so out of position. When the one is Dennis Wideman, you know they're going to score. Bruins have been sloppy with the puck but Rask is keeping them in it... going to be a tough one, the fans are on fire in Buffalo...

Ugh... the Bruins just fucking DOMINATED that period and Rivet scores a shit goal to make it 2-1. I feel bad for Krecji out there. He is easily the best player on the ice and Marco Sturm turned to shit and Miroslav Satan is just a guy at this point. Unfortunately, all the Bruins wingers are just guys. Wheeler and Lucic seemed to hit a wall and are straight pissing me off. They should at the least be tied right now and it just ain't right...

If this Bruins Sabres series goes seven it has potential to be epically brutal!!

Buffalo definitely came out winners when they traded for Rivet. i guess since SJ had just got Boyle they figured they didn't need him. everybody's optimistic for Boston right now, but i just don't see it. like Jay said, Lucic, Sturm, and Satan aren't playing to their potential and let's face it, Rask isn't THAT good. he's a solid goalie, but when your skaters aren't producing, having a prime-aged Hasek in net wouldn't be enough. on the other side of the ice you've got Ryan Miller who's already made 37 fucking saves and only let one goal in.

I think Rask is very good. I think the Leafs trading Rask is one of the worst trades they EVER did.

The B's are just a different team without Savard.

Wow... your hockey credibility just dropped a huge notch. Rask is the only reason that game wasn't a blowout. I also fail to see what the Bruins skaters have to do with Tuukka in net??? Because as NHL history has proven time and time again, a hot goalie will beat all the talent in the world every time. Hello New Jersey Devils?

The Bruins didn't lose because of Tuukka Rask, they lost because they didn't score.

Tuukka Rask not that good 01laugh.gif

when did i say they lost BECAUSE of Rask? i said he's solid but could be better. you guys praise him like he's the fucking second coming though and he's not THAT good. sorry for not stressing that was more what i was implying. i never said they lost because of him.

and lost credibility? i'm a Lightning fan. i'm pretty sure that takes away any i might have had to begin with.

I talk about him like he is going to be one of the elite goaltenders in this league, which he will be. I don't even think it's out of line to say he's one of the top 10 goalies in the league right now. If Thomas wasn't blocking him early, he'd probably win the Calder and at worst be nominated for the Vezina. He was that good. Led the league in the two key goal tending stats and even with his limited starts, was tied for 7th in shutouts. The kid is phenomenal, and he just turned 23. Yeah, it's pretty damn hard to figure out why he makes Bruins fans excited...

I told my friends that i thought the Caps would choke, if not this round, but the next.
Looking pretty good there. Except i hate the Habs as much as i hate the Red Wings...
I cant say my finger is anywhere near the pulse of this years season. Missed a lot of games.
I think the winner of Ott/Pitts will do well.

Actually feel bad for them Sharks, incredible amount of shots on net and unable to get even one past Anderson and then this fuckup. I still feel they will win this series.

Enjoying watching the Coyotes win.

Fuck the Canucks and go Kings!

Ha Ha The Avs winning... Loving it, though I keep expecting the Sharks to surface.. but then again, maybe not and they finally rebuild the org or rid them of the cancer they have.

Back to the Avs, stoked to see the youth movement doing what they're doing and my gosh, we finally have some Goaltending, which I haven't seen them have since the Roy days...

Fuck Detroit... hope they go up in flames in the first round...

Game was AWESOME last night. Buffalo's first goal had me worried (mainly cause I wasn't aware black guys played hockey), but from then on I loved the way the Bruins played. Wideman again!! Bergy's goal was sick too, Recci made that all happen with that brutal hit metal.gif

Speaking of hits, Boychuck FUCKED that dude up on open ice. That was insane.

Let's get the other home game on Wednesday 02smile.gif

Johnny Boychuck came into his own at such a crucial time for this team. Dennis Seidenberg is done for the year and Mark Stuart has been out, they needed someone to step up and he has big time. There are nights when he's the best defenseman we have on the ice, even ahead of Chara. Straight up stole him from Colorado. If it wasn't for Hunwick last year jumping ahead of him, he probably would have been here way sooner. Instead he got stuck at Providence all year but won the AHL's version of the Norris Trophy. Fair enough I guess...
