Kyle Thomas joins TROUBLE

I am so happy with this news!!

Korey Clarke just didn't fit with Trouble. Trouble fans world wide have been saying he was the wrong choice. I saw Trouble 4 times with Korey and it just wasn't really working. I wanted to like him. We're talking about a band I've been a huge fan of since 1985. He didn't seem to ever bother learning the old Trouble songs. His voice sounded terrible.

Kyle Thomas did 4 shows with Trouble in the late '90s and ruled it. He's a diehard Trouble fan with a killer voice.

I had a feeling something was up. The album was suppoded to be out this month but there hasn't been news in months.

I ran into Trouble guitarist, Bruce Franklin, a few months ago. He said thee album was basically done except vocals.

I wonder if they use the songs they wrote with Korey or if the start from scratch.

This is a wonderful day for TROUBLE fans

When MJOB says he "ran into" Bruce Franklin, he means he stalked him and sent me photgraphic evidence.

I have a few bootlegs of shows Kyle did with TROUBLE around 1999 or so and he was great.

In a statement released to BLABBERMOUTH.NET, Thomas stated about his addition to TROUBLE's lineup, "A great honor and opportunity has come back around to me recently as I have been invited to write and record with TROUBLE for their upcoming album. I am proud to say that I accept the invitation, and look forward to rejoining my former colleagues.

"Though I was not an official member of the band before, I treated every performance with them as if I were. This time around I shall continue to do so.

"As a fan first and foremost of TROUBLE, I completely understand that a strong contingent of fans only want to see the band with [original singer] Eric Wagner, and there is nothing wrong with that. If I were on the outside looking in, I might feel the same way.

"Though we've never met, I have the utmost respect for Eric and can only say it is an honor and challenge to step in to his previous spot with the band. It is a challenge that I look forward to, and hope that true fans of TROUBLE will be willing to give it a fair shake.

"As a fan, I can promise you that I will do everything within my power to make an amazing and true to feel album with one of my favorite bands.

"If some cannot accept the change, that is okay as well. Everyone is entitled to their feelings, but all I can say is that BLACK SABBATH remained great with Ronnie James Dio and Ian Gillan, and DEEP PURPLE was amazing as well with David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes. I was reluctant to accept the change for both of those bands at one time, and now regret that it took me so long to enjoy the various lineups. Good music is good music.

"If my work with TROUBLE is not up to snuff, it will not be because I did not work my tail off in the process.

"Many thanks to [TROUBLE guitarists] Rick Wartell and Bruce Franklin for bringing me back into the picture. Truth is, what is!"

TROUBLE is currently working on its ninth studio album with Thomas on vocals and plans to release the record this spring.

"We are really excited to be working with Kyle again," stated Rick Wartell, TROUBLE co-founder/guitarist. "The shows we played with him in the past were very well-received by the fans and now we'll have an opportunity to work with him in the studio on our new record. His vocals are amazing and a perfect fit for the band."

Bruce Franklin, TROUBLE's other co-founder/guitarist, added, "The history with Kyle and TROUBLE really goes back to his teenage years as he told me that he and Jimmy Bower (of DOWN) would drive around in his old Pinto and listen to TROUBLE. He's an excellent, highly energetic singer and it's great to have him be an official member of the band now."

TROUBLE's current lineup is:

Kyle Thomas (vocals)
Rick Wartell (guitar)
Bruce Franklin (guitar)
Shane Pasqualla (bass)
Mark Lira (drums)

I think its great that Kory's gone finally, but I don't see why they can't have Eric do the vocals on the album and just use Kyle as a live vocalist. Nothing against Kyle, but Eric really is the voice of TROUBLE.

Please don't tell me you're one of those "It's not TROUBLE without Eric Wagner" morons.

Eric didn't want to be in TROUBLE anymore. His last few tours, he didn't seem to care anymore. 100% in or 100% out. No part time shit.

Franklin and Wartell shouldn't stop just because of Eric.

Kyle Thomas kicked ass when he played with TROUBLE before.

If you need some proof, maybe I'll send you the Expo Of The Extreme show from 1997

I'm not saying "It's not TROUBLE without Eric Wagner". But I'm under the impression that Eric might be completely to blame. I believe there's a reason that Bruce and Rick are the only 2 left. That's all I'm saying.

I think the "problem" is, Wartell and Franklin realized long ago that TROUBLE was not gonna be a huge band that they could make a living from.

Now we're talking about guys in their 50's with wives and kids and the responsibilities that come with that. I know Wartell has a small business. I believe Franklin also does. So TROUBLE is what they do as a hobby I guess, when they have the time.

I can see why other members might have a problem with that. But it seems like a sensible decision.

I just want new Franklin/Wartell riffage metal.gif

According to a statement on the band's Facebook page, "THE SKULL is here to do one thing... rock you with the sounds and spirit of TROUBLE</B> — past, present, future. Tour coming soon..."

Wagner, Olson and original TROUBLE bassist Sean McAllister shared the stage for the first time since 1986 during Olson's RETRO GRAVE set on June 18, 2011 at the Days Of The Doomed Fest in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Video footage of Wagner, Olson and McAllister performing the song "Victim Of The Insane", which was written by Olson for TROUBLE's full-length debut "Psalm 9" (1984), can be viewed below.

TROUBLE formed in 1979 and released several classic albums like "Trouble", "Manic Frustration" and "Plastic Green Head".

Eric was one of the guest singers on Dave Grohl's (NIRVANA, FOO FIGHTERS) heavy metal side project PROBOT, whose 2004 album featured heavy metal vocalists from the '80s and '90s. Wagner also makes a guest appearance in the forthcoming horror film "Jezebeth" (written and directed by Damien Dante of Satania 6 Films), to be released on Blu-ray in early 2012.

Eric Wagner left TROUBLE in April 2008, citing his disdain for the touring life as the main reason for his departure.

On my post I mean Eric might not be completely to blame in his split with TROUBLE, and now there's this.

more from Blabber:

QUOTE
Former TROUBLE Bassist On THE SKULL: 'We Want To Go Out And Have Fun And Play The Old Songs' - Feb. 12, 2012 Two original members of Chicago doom legends TROUBLE — vocalist Eric Wagner and drummer Jeff "Oly" Olson — have joined forces with the band's longtime bassist Ron Holzner in a new heavy rock/doom metal act called THE SKULL.

When asked why they decided now was the right time for THE SKULL to come together, Ron told Metal Kaoz, "The 'TROUBLE aam' set at last year's Days Of The Doomed Fest [in Kenosha, Wisconsin] was the catalyst for this whole thing. Eric and Oly hadn't had the chance to talk much before [Days Of The Doomed Fest], and then when I got there the next day and we all got to hang out and talk... it was really nice! Playing 'End Of My Daze' with the whole fucking crowd singing... that's what it's all about! We all looked at each other on stage and simply went, 'Wow!'"

He added, "All of us have our [respective] bands that are doing well, but the fans really want to hear the old [TROUBLE] songs the way they're meant to be heard.

"After the [Days Of The Doomed] fest, Eric basically said to me, 'Let's start a band!', and after that night the three of us thought, 'That would be cool.' We want to give the fans to the best of our ability what they deserve. When people speak loud enough, you hear it. Well, we hear it! We're doing this because we want to, and because the fans want us to. It's all about the fans. The fans spoke out, and the fans have been heard.

"The thing is, we can't just sit back and not listen to the fans. We want to go out and have fun and play the old songs. We don't have to go out and do this because we all have our own bands that are doing well with records coming out. We're doing this because we want to, and because the fans want us to."

Olson was equally enthusastic about the formation of THE SKULL, telling Metal Kaos in an e-mail, "[I'm] excited to jam some TROUBLE again! [I] was a little worried there would be some drama with the fans, like with the two L.A. GUNS bands performing the same material, but there is nothing I want more than a reunion with all TROUBLE members. For now, this will do."

Wagner, Olson and original TROUBLE bassist Sean McAllister shared the stage for the first time since 1986 during Olson's RETRO GRAVE set on June 18, 2011 at the Days Of The Doomed Fest in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Was semi-excited about Kyle in Trouble... but now there's Bizarro Trouble... 01laugh.gif Well, look forward to both versions... maybe they can merge at some point... 01laugh.gif

PS: Fuck Kory Clarke. What a douche-bag. People fucking hated that turdstick and the band stuck by him despite the amount of hate he got from the fanbase... idiot. Good riddance.

Newly formed THE SKULL, featuring original TROUBLE members vocalist Eric Wagner and drummer Jeff "Oly" Olson, along with longtime bassist Ron Holzner, have tapped Glen Drover (MEGADETH/TESTAMENT/KING DIAMOND/GLEN DROVER BAND) as the band's guest touring guitarist.

Eric Wagner, Jeff "Oly" Olson, and Ron Holzner comments: "We are ready to rock you with the sounds and spirit of Trouble... past-present-future. Please welcome our guest touring guitarist Glen Drover. We are excited to have him on board. A tour is currently being planned for 2012 and will be announced soon as well as our guest dueling guitarist. Stay tuned."

Thanks Charles.

There's a new interview with Kyle saying he is doing demos for new Trouble songs.

I'd like to know if they are using songs they wrote with Korey Clarke or if they have started song writing with Kyle from ground zero. Seems more likely that Kyle is just re-writing new lyrics for the music they already had.

Translated from Hungarian -

Kyle Thomas Interview

http://heavymetal.hu/cikk.jsp?id=944

First of all, congratulations for Trouble! How did it happen?

Thank you very much! As some know, others do not, once I was a member of the gang in the late '90s. When Eric (Eric Wagner, ex-singer) returned to them, politely stood aside and waited to bring together another great album is one of my favorite team. Since then I have dealt with everything pretty much, and, fortunately, has now decided to make me want to drive. The sound engineer, Larry Burns earned, and I feel it is time to do so. Shortly after the Kory Clarke exit, call Rick (guitarist Rick Wartell), and finally talked to him, it is Bruce (Bruce Franklin, the other guitarist), and now here we are.

Kory Clarke's said some pretty provocative things in the exit of the band. What do you think about this?

I was not there, and I do not know what I he went through, so it would not be fair to address what he did or said. The circumstances are not important, but how great things for me to be a part of Trouble as a singer and songwriter as well.

I know it's already an old story, but what was the problem back then with Eric?

You have to admit that the first time, as a member of Trouble, I never met him personally, but when it was given out that I am the successor, he sent me a very nice e-mail. Basically, it gave me the respect that you saw me to the band, and good luck to you, and it encouraged me to feel myself well in the band. As a fan and as a man that meant a lot to me. Here is a guy who has such an impression on me, and his many fans, the only authentic Trouble singer, and I'm not just a place, but also approved to replace me and all the greatest success. This more than anything to tell. Anyway, to my knowledge, the answer to your question is that mostly a lot of traveling involved bandázással tired. However, I do not know for sure, and I emphasize this is just my opinion

Trouble comes when the new album?

I can not really tell. Recently performed the finishing touches on a demo recording, and then my turn to individuals writing the text.

What can you tell in advance from the button?

Already the song has got all the raw frame, and will soon begin throwing in my ideas. Usually I used to being varied here and there over the original, but sometimes I love the original versions. I promise I will surely turn to full details of all the above I am mad! Catchy, melodic and feelinges. It seems to me, Rick and Bruce feel a kind of mission that we set up another mile belt, so I'm very tight that it can best bring formamide. The whole matter Rick, Bruce and I will write, at least so far things are.

Objective or absolute, since not even a singing album Trouble: Trouble disk which is your favorite and why?

Very difficult question. Run To The Light and the Rick Rubin produced album Trouble in my opinion are the best. The latter was the first joint album with ruby, and the way it is flawless. Of course, Psalm 9 and The Skull is difficult überelhető classics. Of course I can handle a lot of things on Manic frustration, Plastic Head and Simple Green All Condition discs as well. If you think back to the distant past, then maybe its the song Run To The Light was the one which I owe to such a fanatic I am Trouble.

Trouble always had a sensationally good band, orchestra, and later many were affected, but never became as well known as they deserved it. Why do you think this is?

It does not seem too fair, is it? Maybe they were in the wrong place at the wrong time, or just bad luck. Very similar to the situation than the old band the Exhorder. Both teams had a lot of orchestra, some of them became a superstar. (The Trouble there has Metallica, Pantera Exhorder is, they probably targeted Kyle - Hairy) Unfortunately remained pioneers of the profession, of course, having no financial recognition. No wonder that my favorite writer Edgar Allan Poe on. I can spout I will die, never off aratva fruits of my work, if it is at all like that.

Anyway, Rick and Bruce bitter or angry because of this?

Sometimes I am because of your own destiny. Most of the time I live my life only, and do not deal ilyesmikkel. I am blessed with great family, and it seems we have everything we need. Even so, the music reached a lot of things in my career, about which many people only dream about. We include newspapers, video clip in, and thousands of people have seen the concerts. But it would be nice if one day existence would we pay for all this material is to be able to live comfortably full.

We will this ever happen?

Surely, if we write a great album that everyone loves!

Last year there were news of the merger of Flood Gate again, but eventually it is said. What happened?

In fact, I never said it. Everyone wants to do it, but then everyone összetrombitálni difficult to simultaneously ráérjen. I would like to re-fucking guitarist / singer to be on stage. Together will come only slowly. Until then, it will occupy myself with other things.

The same question is also Exhorderről.

This is an unfortunate situation. Many require us to be re-Exhorder, but somehow I can not. I think maybe too much of the old injury in some people, upon which is difficult to overcome. It seems to get along better when we do not work together, so now the case. Very sad and unpleasant it is. All of them were cut into with great expectations. Állatira them all I can, and it is very hard for us all.

Death Metal Allstars as there were a few years ago a project a few well-known death metal musicians such as Steve DiGorgio and Jack Owen. Here, what was that?

It was disbanded. Recently, we head into a five-number of substances, and incredibly well done. REPRESENTATIONS about to be a press release in which to inform the public of the band's name, that at present that are in the works. We were all excellent musicians, and I am very proud of my work as well. Anyway, not at all be death metal, but rather good dynamic, serious music. Most of the hard music fans will like it I think.

Vinnie Paul is still hates Phil Anselmo, Dimebag and even blames him for the death. It is known that Phil's big title, and even you are big fans of each other, so I would be interested in your opinion. Can you understand that Vinnie is it?

Well, I would not say so much to be friends with Phil discover. Only once or twice a year we run together, and we used to be phone calls or e-mail each other. We are good friends, this is probably true, but not so close, thus there's nothing wrong with me. Rather, it just drifted away raced each other for twenty years, when he hung out a lot together. Vinnie was a little familiar, but this is no problem. I should ask him to feel for Phil, but you lose tesómat the fact that what horror it declared, then it would be difficult for me to live with.

Phil has surpassed himself think about things?

I do not really know, but it is possible. I'm still sad, because I knew little Dime was. As with all loss, it can fade over time.

You are a Black Sabbath fan, what do you think about the Bill Ward controversy?

Tépelődök it very much. Very harry that they are the sweetest Kiss next team, and so I see them. Anyone can say anything, for me and Ronnie James Dio, Ian Gillan's Sabbath, or even real. All "Black Sabbath True" fudge nonsense. Do you think the genius of Heaven and Hell, Mob Rules, Born Again, or does not reach or surpass the Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die in levels? Heaves laugh at this.
Professional musicians thinking, I say, if they can not work with Bill, it makes sense to the substitution. Vinnie Appice, say, meet me, but who else can I say? After all, I am at Eric Wagner. Vinnie's already played a couple of album, but Jimmy Bower of Down's is very happy to see him as Black Sabbath drummer. Everyone is replaceable, as I try to win the trust of fans Trouble.
As a fan, of course, the situation is more complicated: do not try to have a beharangozni Réunion, so that when they eliminated one of the members. As a fan it is clear that I stand next to Bill, and there is also an important face, like the others, but I'm not going to shake the guy in the other three öklömet - then you also deserve a big seggberúgást from my parents! Say I do not know exactly what is in the background, but I hope it is resolved.

New Orleans. Do you love to live there?

I would not be able to anywhere else. I like to hike, or get in the way business travel elsewhere, but this is the real home. I think it would be awful homesick for a long time to spend away.

It is hard making a living out to you?

If you ask me, everywhere. Why they call it work, right? If your family and your goals are, you've got to work. There are two types of wealthy people, one has achieved everything by itself, the other inherited. Latter of course can become a great time and hard labor, but mostly you can not even imagine what the csóróság. I've experienced before. I worked hard for a living. My family helped the fantastic, of course, when I was in a bad position. I have never done it for me, that I do not even have to fight for nothing, and therefore I love them all. The family makes me stronger. Without them I would not be the one, and you're done.

Is there anything important I've missed?

Wow, sure we can still talk to each other, but so long it will chew through the readers. I think this is quite a long interview in order to tell them the bathroom, or anywhere. I can not say enough how grateful I am that I am in Trouble. I know that many people want to hear from Eric, and as a fan, I understand them, but give me a chance! If you do not like, you can still send a warmer climate. I'm really trying, and even Eric also gave its blessing, which means something.

THE SKULL, the new band formed by two original members of Chicago doom legends TROUBLE — vocalist Eric Wagner and drummer Jeff "Oly" Olson — alongside the band's longtime bassist, Ron Holzner, has recruited guitarists Lothar Keller and Michael Carpenter of the Chicago, Illinois-based progressive power metallers SACRED DAWN. Glen Drover (MEGADETH, TESTAMENT, KING DIAMOND), who was previously announced as a guest touring guitarist on THE SKULL's upcoming tour, will not be able to join the band on the road due to scheduling conflicts.

Commented Wagner, Olson, and Holzner in a statement: "We welcome the twin guitar attack of Lothar Keller and Michael Carpenter from SACRED DAWN. Both guitarist have been playing together for many years and that's a big plus. We are excited to begin rehearsing for our upcoming shows!"

The following festival dates have been confirmed so far. More shows will be announced soon.

June 16 - Days of The Doomed - Cudahy, WI
July 21 - Hells Pleasure - Pößneck, Germany
Sep. 01 - Stoner Hands Of Doom - New London, CT
Nov. 10 - Hammer Of Doom - Würzburg, Germany

^Good read.

Interesting views, some revisionist history, some old rumors are put to rest. But a good sense of everyone is happy now and understands why other people are doing what they're doing.

I'll check The Skull out. Trouble kareokee?? Maybe. But it should be a fun time.

Might hit Days Of The Doomed is Wisconsin in June. I'll be at the Reggie's show in Chicago on July 14 for sure.
