Where are all the Unseen defenders now? I didn't predict the outcome will be this bad though.

I still like some tunes on the album.
And I predicted it to tank badly back then, that's why I thought the usual »SELLOUUUT« whining by the usual suspects was totally out-of-place.
In The Haunteds position that album was commercial suicide.

And so, your point is, once again, null.

BTW, did you see that recent MH.interview where Robb talks about people going apeshit on Supercharger-tracks live? 01laugh.gif

I honestly didn't find Aro terrible. His singing voice was a little... interesting, but overall he was serviceable. Was he great on record? No, but like I said I didn't think he was horrible. He didn't take away from some very good music. That said, he was fucking horrendous live. It's like he has a set of removable testicles and for live shows he takes them off and leaves them in the dressing room for safe-keeping, because the balls of his yells and screams were never there. It was really weird because his vocals on the albums don't sound overly manipulated, but live it sounded like all the lower end was removed from his voice.

Were there really any? Maybe one or two? I'm pretty sure the majority of opinions on the record was that it was a terrible, misguided piece of shit. I mean, I knew what they were going for and knew what a giant flame-out it was going to be the moment I saw that clip of them on that mainstream Swedish TV show with the sparkly stage. But yeah, I didn't know it would reach this point of Dolving begging for money on the internet and leaving the band.

I still like several tunes on the record, no need for me to defend that. I can see why it flopped though (although, it could've gone the other way too since some compared it to In Flames and look how popular they got with the more commercial stuff).

I tend to think it's a bit of both, the record flopping and him going batshit crazy.

He sounds way better on that Kill The Pain song than he does on Made Me Do It. And when compared to Dolving on the s/t, I think he is relatively terrible because Dolving sounded so awesome on that first album.

To me In Flames went way more for poppy and catchy and sing-along, most of Unseen, despite bein kinda Alternative Rock, is not as catchy by far. Despite bein soft, it's rather bulky. Disappear bein an exception. That combined was a recipe for disaster.

Yeah, but it didn't really sound all that similar. Soilwork sounds more like that latter In Flames sound that made them so successful (mainly because In Flames copied it from them 01laugh.gif), but Soilwork hasn't been nearly as successful as In Flames, at least not in the US. Also are In Flames even that successful anymore? Even if they are, I'd wager that's due to past success and an already established fan base, and the window for a band like that to become successful with that style of music is closed.

First time I saw The Haunted with Aro, when they toured Made Me Do It, he sounded just as angry as on the album. Two days later they had to cancel the rest of the tour because he had bleeding vocal chords... Guess he didn't know how to scream properly live and fucked up his voice - maybe he's been holding back live since? I saw Face Down live in 06 though, and I thought he sounded fine then.

The vocals on the first Face Down album is pretty different from the stuff he's been doing ever since - the harsh singing is more melodic and there are even some clean parts. The cleans aren't that great, but at least he did them before.

He was fine on all the Finnish gigs I've seen. Or I was drunk enough.

Just as successful as Machine Head. Same tier. Soilwork are pretty fucking dead though.

I believe it. Last few Soilwork records I've heard have been utter garbage. Such a shame too as Predators and NBC were so fucking good.

Yeah, so there's just no market for it anymore. In Flame is where they are because they are In Flames and have a dedicated fan base.

Pretty sure I recall seeing an update from him a week or so ago that he finally filled out and submitted some sort of application for government assistance. Could be related if his application was received and they replied with some sort of.. yeah.. well.. this successful band you have here? The Haunted..? So... tell us more about that.

Bummer that I never got the opportunity to see him with The Haunted live. I know Unseen sold poorly, but I didnt think it would be this bad. I still listen to the album every now and then. I was curious to hear where they would have taken the sound on the next record. I guess we won't really know now

IMO, Half of both STAGD and TPB are pretty damn good. Stabbing sucks as does FNF. They aren't very relevant anymore though.

The Haunted story is rediculous! Nothing wrong with asking for money in return for new music; but THE WAY he went about it was so pathetic. Seemed like he was begging.

I never understand why metal bands try to go mainstream. The Metallica phenomenon will NEVER happen again for 10,000 reasons. TO ALL METAL BANDS....

YOU WON'T BE SNORTING COKE OFF A SUPERMODELS TITS!! GIVE THAT SHIT UP! YOU'RE NOT LIGHT ENOUGH AND YOU'RE DAMN SURE NOT LOOKERS! UNLESS YOU'VE GOT A STRIKING FRONTMAN WITH A UNIQUE VOICE; YOUR ROMAN ORGY DREAMS WITH JESSICA BEIL AND ALBA WILL NEVER MATERIALIZE! DON'T BE RETARDED!

With that said, the aptly titled Unseen couldn't have been worse. I was hoping they would do a trilogy...

Unseen, Unsaid, Unheard

Glad I don't have to see/hear anything more from Hobo Dolving.

I love Irony. 09cheese.gif

Wow.

It's funny how none of the guys in the band have ever said anything remotely as quacked as he has over the last year, yet he's the one throwing out insults about Asperger's (which I wouldn't be shocked at all to hear he has) or psychopathy.

Given his demeanour and ability to make others laugh, I'd say he's a perfect fit for Limp Bizkit.

Cool, so in a year's time or so, we'll see a grovelling apology and a reunion tour. "For the fans" , you understand.

Good to see he's using Facebook for its primary function now, though...publicly flinging shit that should really have stayed private.

End.

This made me laugh regardless of the irony which only further enhances it.

Such a fantastic metal voice, definitely bummed we won't hear it paired with the awesome-ness that is The Haunted again.

To Pete: Thanks for the memories, enjoy the dole.

To The Haunted: Find a kickass singer and write a record that makes us forget that last mess*

This guy and the band have become a joke so hopefully this will be for the better. For The Haunted that is, could give 2 shits about Dolving. The first 3 albums were the only ones I ever dug anyhow, especially the first and One Kill Wonder. Some At the Gates would kick ass.
