My parents are kind-hearted, intelligent professionals with a broad range of interests and hobbies. They both come from very modest backgrounds, and worked extremely hard to get where they are. Though we never realised it at the time, they sacrificed everything they could to ensure that their children had everything they needed, plus the opportunity to pursue all the educational, sporting and recreational challenges they wished to.

a couple of weeks back we were out having dinner for my sister's 26th birthday. on the way out while we were signing the cheque my 62 year old dad, who is usually very passive and placid to the point of it being a fault, seemed to be doing his best to start a punch up with some random 20-something year old guy at the restaurant. I actually had to physically get in between them and separate them both...
that was fucking weird. Religion is no fun. Religion endangers the life and happiness of millions. It must stop. We appeal in particular to the youth of today. STOP THE MADNESS! There are better things in life. |

My parents are tolerable for 2 days max, then they start to nag me about shit like I'm 15 again. It's no wonder us 3 kids moved out of home by 21.

Man my family is all kinds of weird and fucked up.
My biological mom had my three older sisters with my dad, then went through three miscarriages, before finally having me. Something happened early on in her pregnancy with me, and the doctor had flat out told her that trying to have another child could have pretty dire ramifications. She had made some sort of promise to my dad to give him a boy though, so she kept on with in it. She was always somewhat religious, but dad's said that shortly after hearing that, she started to believe that God was talking to her and telling her to have the baby, that I was suppose to be some sort of part in God's plan. I still have some of the journals she'd written to me, talking about the rapture and end of days, her interpretations of the book of Revelation, and trying to lay the ground work for me to be some kind of a leader in the battle between the forces of good and evil. Anyway, she ended up dying a couple of hours after having me. Dad doesn't like to talk about her much, it's still a pretty taboo subject between us. Then my foster mom, for lack of a better term, was a close family friend that I guess had agreed with my biological mom and dad, that she would help raise me and be a part of the family, if anything should happen to my mother. Well, nobody bothered to inform me that she wasn't my birth mother, so from the time I could recognize and remember stuff, until I was about 6 or 7, I wasn't any the wiser. During that time, her and my old man got close. I guess she took pity on him or something for what he went through losing my mom. The details of that are pretty hazy as well. All I know is that one day she up and left after a huge argument with my dad, and afterwards he sat me down and tried to help me grasp the idea that she wasn't my mother to begin with. Now there is a huge rift in my family, because she has brainwashed my sisters into hating my dad, a grudge that has lasted more than 20 years. (Oh it should also be noted that being a close friend to my biological mother, my foster mom adopted and continued the idea of me being some kind of prodigy in the whole holy war thing.) And finally we have my step-mom, whom I've dubbed as just "mom" because she's been around the longest. She was apparently, the woman my dad was actually interested in, much to the dismay of my foster mom, who felt like she had been backstabbed after trying to integrate herself into the family of 3 daughters and one son. She is by far the most normal of my mothers, but that doesn't really make her normal. Before us, she had another family with three or four kids. Of them, only one talks to her to this day, and he's kind of an idiot, but that's a story for another time. My mom's history is, like so much stuff regarding the maternal figures in my life, shrouded in mystery. I do know that she was a stupidly heavy alcoholic for a long time; to the point that she underwent electro-shock therapy to treat her problem. I also know she had a thing for bad boys in her younger days, having some ties to the mob because of the people she dated. She also had a penchant for violence as well, breaking pool cues over peoples' heads, kicking in door's of neighbors apartments and beating the shit out of them, that sort of thing. Then I've got my dad, whom I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not that he isn't crazy. My dad is a great guy for the most part, until you go out of your way to be a prick to him. When he's angry, he is extremely ruthless and calculating, and has no regard for anything once he's been pushed to that level. Back when he a teen, he knocked a cop's teeth out for calling him a spic, in front of two other cops and while handcuffed. When working construction, I've heard all sorts of various stories, but I think my favorite has to be when he knocked this guy silly and dragged him to the top of the building they were working on, then threatened to drop him over the edge of it while he was still reeling from the pain. Then there was his boss, who was hitting on my step mom back when they were working for the same contractor company. From what mom and dad said, the guy was huge black dude, very intimidating and had a tendency to throw himself around like a big shot tough guy. Dad gave the guy a couple of warnings about being disrespectful to his woman, and his boss shrugged it off. After that dad told the guy to watch out, because he'd get him when he leasts expects it. So a couple of weeks later my old man staked out the dude's house for a couple of hours early one morning. As soon as he opened the door to his house to go outside, dad shot out his front porch light; letting him know that he was serious. So yeah, I guess you could say I've got 4 parents, and they are all off their rockers. -------- ![]() |

My father asked me today if any of the deceased of our family had uttered wishes how they wanted to be buried. I told him that my aunt had been buried 1+1/2 years ago and that all other ones had been buried years or even decades ago (most notably his own father who had died when my father was 13, so 76 years ago). No matter what I told him, he insisted on that he had to search for adresses etc., so that he could notify other family members.

My Mum'll be 50 this year and my Dad's 53, considering i'm 33 they had me pretty young. Very similar to mine, actually. My dad's 47 at the end of April, mum's 45 in October. I'm 27. End. |

Very similar to you both aswell. My mums 42. I'm 23.
I guess my dad would now be about 50 though. My mum and step dad (he's 43), despite being young are stricter than most of my mates parents who are all knocking around 50 now. Just find that a bit curious. [/pointlessrandominfo] |
