Los Crudos, why would you make a picture of a jungle, which is never silent, always feels alive, black and white??? I don't get it! You should make it look vivid not like it's a graveyard!

That's what all these emo photographers have come to. "I'm so deep, my pictures need to be black and white to show my sorrow" shit. Like every pic has to be black and white these days. The newest trend is to just photoshop one element out of the pic and make the rest black and white :vomit
When editing a picture you're supposed to emphasize, not completely mess up or just photoshop (yes, this has become a verb) for the sake of it.

If you don't have talent or a sense for art then please don't edit pictures.

id like to go for some cheap fixed lense. 50mm or 80mm... but first i need a new camera.. mine is from 2003 and ISO 200 looks like shit already:ohwell

her first picture looks pretty nice to me. sure you can always photoshop it better.. but first you gotta get those skills. .. dont think its ment to be emo

I'm not a huge fan of black and white. I think it's kind of a sell out. Case in point, a picture I took of Brandon from Bleeding Through:



It looked awful in color, the sky was gray and overcast and the color was thrown off by the haze. Slapped it through in black and white and poof, people like Korpse rave about it.

I only use B/W to save a good shot that looks like crap, but maybe that's just me...

BW pictures can help you to focus the main subject or main point of your picture (dunno how to say in english).
there is nothing wrong what you said Jay. I(d) do the same. some pictures just look better in bw, sometimes the colorversion is more invormativ and helps the messege of the picture. its a matter of taste.


and theres nothing wrong to make a arty bw picture, just because some ppl think youre just wanna be artsy if you do.

b/w pics can be so awesome. they have their own vibe.
I know alot of pics which are in b/w much more better than in colour, and other pics they are only good in color.
You can't genericize it.

Glad you understood me, jackass.

I'm not completely against black & white pictures but I don't like that everybody thinks it gets more out of a picture.
Jay's picture looks great in black and white because it feels timeless as he really captured this one moment that's branded into memory.
But I don't see the sense in taking out the colour of a nature pic.

I'm just saying there are way too many b&w pictures. "Hey, a pro takes b&w shots, I can do that too." Too bad most people fail!
